On the joyous occasion of the 70th Kannada Rajyotsava, let us celebrate the pride, heritage, and glory of our Kannada Nadu.

Here are some of the most fascinating facts and highlights that showcase the rich culture, history, and progress of our beloved Karnataka.”

  1. Karnataka was formed on 1 November 1956 as “Mysore State” and renamed Karnataka in 1973.

  2. The name Karnataka comes from the words Karu Nadu or Karnata Desha, meaning “lofty land” or “elevated region.”

  3. Hampi, once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  4. Sringeri Mutt, founded by Adi Shankaracharya, is one of India’s four cardinal mathas.
